Near the hotel : Masterpieces of the last Egyptian dynasties: from the black Pharaohs to Alexander the Great, exhibition
From Friday, March 23 2012 to Monday, July 23 2012
Historic treasures of Egypt.
For the first time, at the Jacquemart-André Museum in Paris, an exhibition will be devoted to the finest artistic achievements of ancient Egypt during the ten centuries that separate the start of the third period to the end of the Ptolemaic period (1070 - 30 BC).
This exhibition takes a fresh look at this period, revealing its troubled history, a succession crisis and invasions.
Gathering together some 140 of the finest masterpieces of this period, the Musée Jacquemart-André has borrowed from more than two dozen museums including the British Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Museum of Ägyptisches Berlin, the Louvre Museum in Paris, and it also sought the assistance of several U.S. and European private collections.
Sculptures, reliefs, sarcophagi, funerary masks, ceremonial objects and jewellery from prestigious tombs and temples illustrate the richness and diversity of Egyptian art after the last Ramses.
